  • Threads

I've been doing a lot of netted weaving with 11 seeds and round-ish, smooth stones. But I want to start incorporating crystals. I've been hesitating because I don't know if the sharp corners will cut thru the thread over time. I have only used Nymo and have been happy so far. Can I continue...

  • Re: Quality of Round Japanese Seed Beads from Fusion Beads and Fire Mountain Beads?

Miyuki & Toho are generally considered to be the best two seed bead companies, and both are in Japan. The quality is fairly similar, though both have some unique shapes/colors that the other might not have. They also call some of their shapes different names. "Delicas" are the Miyuki brand...

  • Free Twisted (Spiral) Herringbone Bangle Tutorial

I just posted a free tutorial on my website for a twisted herringbone bangle. If you prefer a bracelet, there is also a section that shows my favorite method for attaching a clasp to a herringbone rope. http://beadingbutterfly.com/FREE_Twisted_Herringbone_Bangle_Tutorial.aspx Happy beading! • Re: Where to find free tutorials?

I would also suggest checking out some of the foreign bloggers. They post free tutorials quite often. For example: http://unicorniopasion.blogspot.com/2010/06/tutorial-de-la-pulsera-capricho.html has a nice bracelet tutorial. Sometimes the tutorial is not in English, but usually the diagrams are very...

  • Conquering the creativity saboteurs

Secrets of Highly Creative Beaders Lately, I have found myself in a very peculiar state of mind. My last blog was right before the Bead&Button Show, when my little beady motor was revving up for the glorious revelry that is the quintessential heart of the show. I spent the week going to classes and...

  • Stumped

I have aquired tons of size 6 and 8 seed beads and can find very few uses or projects to incorporate them into. They are too large for most of the projects and work I see in magazines, any beaders out there have good ideas for their use??

  • Pounding on steel wire?

Excitement is in the air, not to mention pollen (sniffle, sneeze). The Bead&Button Show is almost here and I am sooooo looking forward to seeing old friends and new beads. I’ll probably make some new friends because I’m taking two classes this year. Taking a class at the Bead&Button Show is great...

  • Delica color combinations

I'm really getting frustrated with picking delica colors from catalogs and the internet. They just never arrive in quite the color I was expecting. Are there websites that give suggested color combinations? I know some patterns give the colors they used, but a lot don't, or they're not in...
