I embroidered a masked weaver on velvet using size 15 seed beads and Charlottes. In planning a design, I study the bird’s appearance in field guides because I want it to look very realistic. I trace the design on the fabric and use a variety of beads to create the layered look of feathers. The beaded image is 11 in. (28 cm) square.
