About Kay-Sea
Born in Miami, 1950. Grew up near Dadeland Mall in the southwest area. One sister and my two grown nephews still live in the family home. *****
1970-79 -- My Wonder Years *****
1971 - first marriage; moved to Tallahassee and stayed for 2 years; 1973 - moved to Montpelier VT, was hired by National Life Insurance Company, and got divorced in late 1974. Learned to drive when I was 26 (in the dead dark winter, on back mountain roads, in a beat up stick shift Toyota, coached by the mother of the fireman I was living with at the time) and immediately applied for a learning-leave-of-absence from my employer. Moved to Denver CO for 9 months, and managed a NL sales office there. Returned to Montpelier and the NL home office in spring of 78. Second marriage in the fall that year; moved to Bokeelia (Pine Island) on the west coast of FL, just south of Sarasota at the end of 79. *****
1980-89 -- My Very Eventful Decade *****
Husband #2, having morphed into quite an idiot who spent money faster than we earned it, high-tailed it back to VT, leaving me up to my eyeballs in debt. The divorce was final in 1981. What a relief! Whirlwind romance ensued when I met my Sweetie (an architect), who became Husband #3 in the fall of 82. We moved to Sarasota and paid off my debt, living on peanut butter, tomato soup, and Ritz crackers. In 85 we vacationed in NC and decided to move to the Asheville area. Best decision ever! We rented for 2 years, and bought our first home in summer of 88. Things began to calm down. *****
1990-99 -- A _____ Time *****
Recovering from a partial hysterectomy, my emotional and mental wellbeing took a beating. Started hormone replacement therapy, anti-inflamatory, and anti-depressant meds and the ever challenging quest to get them balanced and dependable. That has become an underlying theme... We joined the Unitarian Univeralist faith in 1993, and began to enjoy the community of like-minded folks. Shortly before that, though, my professional path finally led me to a financial consultant who was starting his own private practice, and we worked together until 2000, when I retired into home life. *****
The more recent years have been amazing. Sept 1997, for our 15th wedding anniversary, we bought 5 acres of beautiful mountainside woods. We designed and built our house, and held our 20th anniversary party here in 2002. For our 25th anniversary, just this past summer, we took a river cruise in Europe, which was unbelievably fabulous. *****
No kids, two cats... I belong to a group of women who go on retreat twice a year, and a couple of other circles focused on creativity, spirituality, or just fun and games. My dearest friend lives in Sarasota, and Sweetie and I visit for two weeks almost every year. I volunteer at my church, read to pre-school children, keep on top of our family finances, tend my home, enjoy cooking, and corresponding/visiting with friends. And, of course I putz around with my beads. Life is good.
