    uncurl fishline

    Hi

For seed beading I use fishline, basically clear string that doesn't fray. On two projects the fishline has completely curled up rather like ribbon after you've curled it with a scissor. It makes work extremely difficult and causes constant knots. Does anyone know how to uncurl it because puting weight on it doesn't seem to work.

    Thanks, youngbeader

Try putting the line in hot water for a few minutes and then hang it up while warm, 5 or 6 ounce weight should work.

I use the crystal fireline all the time and never had a curling problem, so sure would wonder what would be causing the problem. Is the line coming off the spool curled?

    thanks for the tip.

The two that curled was a fringe bracelet and a large netting piece. I tried to do several fringes or a large line of netting and pulling it through (which was difficult) and for some reason the string curled.

I use fishing line almost exclusively, and yes, it can kink and knot.  I've noticed a particular propensity for knotting just as I'm about finished, as if the stuff sensed my excitement and just wanted to frustrate me.

I have a small desk lamp on my beading table, the halogen type that has glass between you and the lightbulb.  When I noticed my thread getting kinky, I run the thread across the glass slowly with tension.  It's sort of like ironing it.  It straightens it out pretty well, and beats getting up to blow dry it or steam it.
