    wrapped loop on gemstone

Hello, I'm new to working with wire and need some help. I have created a wrapped loop on a gemstone bead. What I need to know is how do you prevent the loop from twisting around. I have some stones hanging from the loop but because the loop can twist, all the stones move around as well and really mess up the necklace I'm trying to make. What am I doing wrong? thanks, N.

If I don't want a stone to twist around, instead of clipping off the end of the wrap, I make it into a spiral that lies against the back of the stone and keeps it immobile -- does this make sense?  I don't know if it will work in your design.

Are you doing a handman's noose or a loop?

If you are doing a noose bring the wrap on the wire all the way down to the bead and use the round part of the crimpng pliers to set it in there really snug. If you are doing a loop, bend the wire away from the stone with your fingers before executing the loop. If you are using thick enough wire that should hold it.

You can also take the wire down and around the bottom of the bead and back up again (or make a spiral as suggested.)

Thanks a lot for the responses.

I actually did end up making a spiral and bent it towards the front of the flat gemstone bead and made it work with my design.
