    Finishing a 3 strand necklace

    I used .015 beadalon for all three strands. What size crimp should I pass them through? Is there another type I should use besides the tube crimp? I was wondering about the one you would use for leather cording that is open and you fold it around the ends and squeeze. I have GS Hypo cement. Would that also help hold the Beadalon to this metal crimp I just described?

    Thanks very much.

    You could loop each wire through a jump ring and crimp each wire individually with a 2x2 sterling crimp tube.  Then attach the jump ring to your clasp.

    Or you could take a piece of sterling wire and make a wrapped loop at one end in which you loop each wire to--then crimp each wire.  You would pass the free end through a cone and make another wrapped loop.  Attach a jump ring to this wrapped loop and connect the jump ring to a clasp.

    There are probably many ways you can do this, it's just a matter of preferance.  I've never used the ones for cording so I can't answer that for you.  Alice

    Another thought for you.  They do make clasp for three strand necklaces that you attach each string to each hole.

    Rhodasmom, I do have a couple but I thought a less bulky look near the neck was nicer in this case. Thanks a lot for your suggestion.

    Hi,

    Go for end cord fastener (used for leather, suede or silk cord). Here's the instruction in case you need it;

    First you put all 3 strands inside, then fold this fastener side by side so they overlap each other a little bit or even better if you use crimp folding plier to form the fastener into round-tube-like shap (I wish I had the sample in hand sorry.) The end result/finish looks very nice.

    Now, you connect the loop which is on top of this fastener with any clasp you'd like to use.

    Hope this helps.

    Jack.

    PS. I have this 2x2mm. fastener in silver, gold and gunmetal in stock but not yet on our website. If anyone wants to try it, please e-mail me.
