Thank you for posting this question.  I just discovered that the Japanese books have not been returned....

I've never heard of the book but I have been interested in the Japanese beading books/techniques.  I googled this one and located it for sale on ebay (don't know if this is a good price or not).  I am also not familiar with this seller so I can make no recommendation on that score...but the book looks interesting and the pictures of the projects in the book are lovely!

I used to live very close to Uwajimaya, a Japanese department/grocery store. They have a great Japanese book store called Kinukiniya. The selection of Japanese beading books was amazing.

The instructions in these books are pretty good. They are not elaborate, so basic skills are necessary. But Delicas were sold in Japan for a decade before they hit these shores. The looming books from Japan are quite stunning. LOVE them.

i would try it, why not. Love the aesthetic. Much more contemporary looks than some of the heavy and odd looking work I see around. It's more jewelry oriented than just look at my beads oriented. Huge difference.

Hi, I have the book and I must say it is awesome. One must invest a little time though to figure out which beads to use for the projects because the supply list is of course in Japanese. This is really not a big problem, as long as you can find a bead the same size, most projects will work just fine. Everything in the book is very clearly illustrated, no need to know Japanese to understand what is meant. I learnt a lot of new things from this book! Yes, definitely dozens of necklaces in there, also rings, bracelets and pins. All Paolo books are awesome..... I have ordered mine from the e-bay seller mentioned above, as I have ordered quite a lot of other books from her. She is very nice, helpful and fast. Hope this helps. Anna

I own and can recommend another title in this "paolo bottoni" series published by Ondori - Beads Motif.

The illustrations are excellent, and the designs seem a bit more chic and interesting than what's in many of the other Japanese beading books.  However, because the designs are more complex, I don't think I'd hand these books to a beginning beader.  And one has to be unafraid of two-needle cross-weaving.

I agree the Paolo Bottoni books are great.  I have five of them, and I believe they are some of the easiest books to use.

BTW, one has been translated into English:  The Beader's Palette is the English translation of this book:

Re: Does anyone knows this book?

I've got "My Favourite Beads Accessory" and "Beads Motif". I think first one has better schemes. And although I can't read japanese it's easily read because there is a list of used beads (how many and in what mm) and then there are millimeters written also on the schemes too. I haven't made all the projects, but there are some I've made. I love those books because of the inspiring color-combination used in the beadwork! I find most japanese books inspiring because of the colors

I agree the color combinations are "wow."  Sakiss is probably my favorite artist for color.  She's just got the "eye," I guess.  I wish her documentation were better--sometimes lines just vanish.  LOL

I saw these books at a Japanese craft store here on Okinawa (for a fraction of the cost I have seen online) but I didnt have any yen to buy them. I will definitely be buying them when I make hubby take me back there when he gets home from deployment.

The Japanese are very articulate with things they make, even graffiti on the sea walls are a beautiful work of art that is just amazing. I have really enjoyed the time we have spent here and will miss it dearly when we leave.

Im new to this type of beadwork so I am so thankful my daughter can read and speak Hiragana & Katakana and some Kanji. Japanese was the one subject she actually enjoys going to lol.

Can I just die of jealousy?  We're "supposed" to go to Japan next year and the only thing I want to do is vanish near  Asakusabashi Station in Tokyo.  I hope your husband comes home safely, and that you have a great time shopping for with him.

The books are so much cheaper in Japan.  I was really lucky to buy them in Honolulu at the Japanese price.  I guess Hawaii is heaven, huh?  LOL

You used to be able to order them off Amazon.com.jp and not pay an arm and a leg for shipping, but they've changed their policy and now shipping is like $30.

I have bought two (wedding) books in March from yesasia.com - prices are a bit bigger than at amazon.jp but if your order exceeds 25usd, you'll get a free shipping. Unfortunately there are not much info about the books so you'll need to make some visits to other bookstores that have pictures/reviews to have some idea what to expect. I have made one purchase, it went smoothly.

I would really like to go to Tokyo as well. We had a 3 hour layover there on the way to Okinawa, but were not able to leave base. I have a severe phobia of flying so it prevents me from really being able to take advantage of the discounted flying rates from the island. It takes everything I have (drugs help to :P) to have been able to make it from England (where we were stationed previously) to here lol.

If we take the same flying route home as we did here, we plan on spending a week in Tokyo. I would really love to tour the bead factories there and my daughter is really into Anime so she would love it as well.

Another good place for Japanese beading books is eBay. There is a seller that offers a wide variety of Japanese beading books for pretty close to the Japanese price. And what makes it even better is he offers free world wide shipping. Just type in Japanese bead book and click on the "see additional buy it now" link at the bottom of the page. I sort by "prices lowest + shipping".
