I'm looking for a shiny gray colored wire that I'm not sure whether is gunmetal or not anymore. To match a friend's bracelet I am extending into a necklace. I've ordered twice now from different places and neither of them match the "gunmetal" color of the original piece.

The first place sold me black wire to go w/ some extra gunmetal finding I also ordered from the same place. The findings match the necklace finish exactly, but the wire did not - looked like just black colored wire.

The second place I bought "gunmetal" colored wire that is made by Artistic Wire Ltd, but it was more of a bronzy color which after much googling is what "gunmetal" is supposed to look like?

The strange thing was, I could have sworn that a local shop I stopped by which had the exact matching colored wire was made by Artistic Wire and labeled as gunmetal. Unfortunately they didn't carry the gauge I needed.

Anyone know what color metal wire I should be looking for and what it might be called? I need 26 and 28g. Something like artistic craft wire, colored in an off black/dark grey color. 

I have seen "gunmetal" used interchangably with "hematite" as a color (see Delica 0001).  Perhaps yoou'll find something suitable use hematite as the color.

 Ditto.  I'm having the same problem.  Has anybody tried ParaWire?  Although the picture on their site looks just black.  I've always thought gunmetal was like a hematite or dark steel color as well.
