Hello out there...

 My daughter has requested that I make her a beaded kippah.  For anyone reading this who doesn't know what a kippah is, it's another name for:  skullcap, yarmulke, yamalka and, occasionally, beanie.

 It is what Jewish people use to cover their heads.  Women often wear them and they sell beaded and pearled wireworked ones, and I've seen bead/wire crocheted ones. 

 If anyone either has a pattern or knows where to find one for one, please let me know.

I found at least one pattern for a handmade wire and bead kippot, which, according to this page, is another name for kippah. Edited to add, I read a little further, and it's the plural of kippah.  http://www.byadokippot.com/new_page_1.htm

P.S. A friend of mine made me a beaded wire crocheted bracelet, and I love it. She said it's a little hard on the hands crocheting with wire. I've never tried it.

 I used to live in New England - in Western MA.  Still have family there.  Wish I could play with beads full time, but I work.  The bracelet is my next project, though and I can't wait to try it.  #5 triangle beads may give way to #5 Swarovski, instead.

You're doing fine. I wish more people would jump in (instead of just reading the boards). It's more fun to participate.

I'm at a point where I play with my beads if I want to, and try to find time every day. One of my next projects is to learn how to do bead crochet. I know how to crochet, but first I have the challenge to think about and several other projects that are in the works.

I just posted to the general forum, but think you might be able to help.  I am learning to crochet with wire and beads and it is challenging!  I've been practicing with 28g copper wire but I think the end result is too weak for a solid feeling bracelet.  I am hoping to be able to create sterling and gold-fill crochet and bead bracelets.  I bought one years ago at an art fair and it is strong and really gorgeous so I know it can be done well!

Does anyone have suggestions or know of a book on wire crochet?
