    Re: Fireline thickness.....help!

    Message I sent to Berkley:

Subject: Berkley Fishing Contact Form - Berkely Fireline

Is there a difference between the Fireline you sell to sporting stores and the Fireline sold through Beadsmith? The beading community has questions about the diameter, strength, and longevity of the 2 sources. Your help would be appreciated by those of us wanting to buy large quantities for our beading

    Their answer:

    Vicki,

It is the exact same line.

Here are the diameters of Fireline:

    1lb -.0048"

    2lb - .0050"

    3lb -.006"

    4lb - .00615"

    6lb - .0076"

    8lb - .00853"

    10lb -.0099"

    14lb -.0109"

    20lb - .0134"

    30lb - .0165"

This Superline is made from a fiber called Dyneema and has almost no stretch to it.

It lasts much longer than a monofilament line does and does not deteriorate or break down like mono does.
