What is your definition of what a bead stopper is?

Can anyone tell me  what a bead stopper it? And where I can I get one. I know this sound silly coming from me but, hey I wanted to ask! So thanks for answering if you do.

    Hi Sharon,

A bead stopper is nothing more than one of those little coily things you've no doubt seen in mags and online which is used to keep your beadwork from moving or beads from sliding off the end of your thread. It does the same thing that a stop bead does, in other words. Lots of places sell them, especially the larger and better stocked online and brick and mortar stores, or you can buy them from the manufacturer, where you can also find more detailed information on them...here:

     Hope that helps!

Anyone who questions your beading habit.

Typically, husbands who come with you to a bead store and hover....

You can buy similar "coily things", also known as "springs" at your local hardware store for less than half the price of a bead store bead stopper.  There is one difference, however.  On a bead stopper, the loop (coil) on either end is bent at about a 45 degree angle to the rest of the spring.  On a spring, the loop on either end is at 90 degrees to the rest of the spring.  It's a little easier to work with the bead stopper, but at 90 cents for a spring vs $2.50 for a bead stopper, I'll take a little inconvenience.  I think Hobby Lobby just added bead stoppers to their line of beading products in a package of 3 for $5.95.

I do like the "anything that keeps me from beading" definition!

Thanks you guys for all the info. I have been beading for awhile and never had the nerve to ask that haaa!! LoL about the hubby and bead store. My hubby would say " don't you have enough beads at home to work with?" Yea right !

    Thanks to all,

    bellaboo,

My definition of a bead stopper is a stiff spring with "ears" on each end. You squeeze the "ears" together to open the spring and insert your thread and wire.

In my store, bead stoppers are $1.25 each, a package of 6 is $4.99 and a package of 16 is $11.99. They are definitely worth it. If I had invented them, I would have called them "Cuss Stoppers", because they have prevented a LOT of bad words in MY house!

LOL about hubbies in the bead store. We have shopping baskets and tell customers "there's no limit on how many times you can fill the basket." <wicked grin> Usually, if DH is with them, he chimes in and says, "Oh, yes there is!" <LOL>

    Happy beading.

Re: What is your definition of what a bead stopper is?

My husband saw my bead stopper and thought it was something that fell off the car!
I'm surprised that there are so many people out there that don't know about these little gizmos.  Very handy for holding those unfinished ends - and I like the new mini's for my seed bead projects.  No more stop bead!
That comment about the hubby in the shop is funny.  I have a wonderful regular customer who somehow talks her husband into driving her the 40 miles to my shop quite often - and then he proceeds to attempt to pick a fight with her every time while she shops.  She has great patience (and a great big pocketbook!).  And he has done it so many times now I find it hard not to laugh.....
    Happy beading everyone!

http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-97812450060791_2026_25584144 My definition of these bead stoppers is just like a little spring that you squeeze the ends and insert your ends of stringing material such as wire, thread or cord and when you release the loops, the spring holds your wire, to stop beads from falling out of your wire. We carry these in our store for both 6 pcs. pack and 16 pcs. pack as well as the mini ones for seedbead projects.
