    Storage for Travel

I'm going on holiday in about a week and of course my millions of seed beads come with me. Last year I just took big bags of beads and end up only using some of them. I just can't bring an endless supply due to the weight limit on suitcases. So I'm putting together kits for myself. I normally use zip lock bags to store my beads when I travel but have run out. There aren't any bead shops here and no time to order a storage method. So I need to come up with a homemade way to store little homemade bead kits. Could anyone help? Thanks, Youngbeader

sometimes craft or departments stores with bridal sections have nice little boxes designed for candy or favors. Or pick up a pill case from a drugstore.

So I bought a load of pill cases, thanks for the tip but they're driving me mad because unless I use a meter of sellotape, they open in my bag. Does any one have any other ideas? Or a good brand of pill boxes?

Singe you're in a rush, have you tried sandwich baggies?  (The smaller ones?)

Also, if there is an art supply store nearby, I love to use the paint cups for my bead storage.  They stay snapped shut so no leaks when traveling.

Sandwich bags tend to be too big, because I only take a few grams of each colour, just enough to make a bracelet. Even the smallest ones are too big.

The paint cup idea is a good one. I don't know an art store near by but I'll look for one. Thanks.

These are the ones I use:

I totally love them - they stay shut and don't spill while I'm hauling them all over the ends of the earth, and they come in all sorts of sizes.

Empty film canisters work really well, if you happen to have any of those around.  I don't like the ziploc bags because of the static, and I'm just bound to poke one with something and have beads go all over the place.  Depending on how many you're taking with you, you could also get some of those little pill dispensers that have a compartment for each day of the week.

    Have fun on your trip!

You can fold little paper packages with the beads in them, but will probably need to tape a small sample in front. If you fold them out of clear cellophane, you can see the color.

I pack my seed beads in a makeup case when im leaving the house. The ones that opens with 2 shelves on the sides and a deep center. It holds about 40 of the dyna mytes in the center alone. I keep the delicas in one of the shelves and tools on another. I even have room for my fireline. I love it. Matter of fact i have so many seed beads i have to get another makeup case. I love my seed beads.
