I have to agree with most of the beaders here and say that peyote is getting stale. I like peyote, but only in its 3d form, and all those flat patterns for bracelets, wall hangings, and amulet bags are driving me crazy! I am also tired of all the delicas, I only use Czech seeds and there are never any patterns for them.
I would love to see more patterns for cross-needle weave using Japanese techniques. In it's 3d form it is truly amazing and I can't find any English patterns for it! I also would love to see more netting, and I am BEGGING FOR MORE BEADED BEADS!! There's almost no better way to use size 11 seeds than that!!
When it comes to B & B magazine, I have to say that there are too many projects using hard to find or overly expensive supplies. And where are the buttons? I made a loopy cuff charm bracelet using only seed beads and buttons and it is one of the most talked about pieces I have ever made. Buttons are amazing, and if you go to your local fabric store there are some that are just as beautiful as, if not more than the beads we buy. There should be more patterns to include them, and not just for clasps!
I don't like metal clay, and I'm not a big fan of huge pieces for around the neck that are pretty to look at but not really wearable.
In books I agree that there are many techniques from around the world that are not being explored and used. Everyone talks about older books to buy that have all these great ideas and techniques in them, why can't we have those in our magazines? If all that is old is new again, let's bring it out!!
On the whole, B & B is the only beading magazine I subscribe to, but I would love to see it improve as well. Thanks!!
