    Hi Catherine,

Toronto actually has a "beading district" there are about 6 bead shops in 2 city blocks on Queen street West. You can take the streetcar, very safe.

If you have a chance to drive outside of the city or Toronto, we are about 1 hour north, customers tell me we have the best bead shop!

In Ottawa, there is a fun bead store downtown in the "market" area called Sassy Bead.

Not sure about Montreal or Quebec, you will find most people speak French in both these cities.

    Have a great trip!

    Cathy

Are you going to Victoria, British Columbia?  Two of the best bead shops I have ever visited are there -- one has precious and semi-precious gem beads, the other a fantastic selection of glass and stone beads.

The bead area in Toronto that Cathy mentioned is on Queen St. west of Spadina on north and south sides of the street. If you make it to this section also be sure to check out Mokuba ...a very high end ribbon store, fun to see all the fancy types of ribbons and laces.

Hello to all, I was raised in Montreal, Quebec and need to clarify something that was posted earlier. Quebec is becoming more and more bilingual. You needn't worry about being served in English. My first language is French and I am perfectly bilingual. There are fabulous bead stores in Montreal and in the outlying areas. Most if not all places have bilingual staff and if not, there is staff on hand to serve you in English.

Welcome to Madison in Montreal to our forums!!!!

As someone who travels in Asia  where a lot of different languages are in use I have to say that beads and a calculator are a perfect combination in any language. I also travel in Canada but never for long enough!
