In a peyote cuff, what can I use instead of Gossamer Floss?

    Hi Everyone!

I'm making an easy Peyote Cuff, and the material list states:  Gossamer Floss.  Could I use elastic thread instead?  It's not that easy to get Gossamer Floss around here...

    Thanks for your help!

    PowerPro, Fireline, Nymo....

All seem to work well for cuffs. I am sure there are others.

I also used upholstery thread when I was learnig to bead, it holds up well, provides strength and durability, but is a bugger to thread through a bead needle.

None of the above mentioned are a stretch  material, and gossamer floss is the best when it comes to stretch material. I sure would try an find it someplace if elastic type material needs to be used.

    Hi FX,

I was not familiar with Gossamer floss, but now I know. I did a quick search and I am sure there are many online places to get it from.

Hey Shanks, I am so glad you know everything there is to know about beading, because apparently I don't know enough! I try to help the best I can.

     Hi Everyone!

Thanks for everyone's great help!  I did purchase Gossamer online and made the peyote cuff.  (Peyote stitch can be addictive!!  It is so repetitive that I got into a "calm zone"!

Unfortunately, the gossamer floss only came in white and the beads I used were bright Teal AB, so the white gossamer floss did show.  But I can see why Bead & Button recommends this material.  It stretches nicely and doesn't seem to break or fray that easily.

Hi, FX!  I'm curious to know how well you like the stretchy results of using Gossamer Floss for a peyote cuff.  How stretchy did it turn out?

    Thanks!  --Lisa
