    Seed Bead Leaves

Hi everyone!  I am working on a project with some beautiful Swarovski flower crystals,  and I want to make some leaves to go with them.  I am curious to know what kinds of leaves you know about.  Here's the ones I am familiar with:

     -Russian Leaves

    -Peyote Leaves

    -Apache Leaves

-Those mini leaves presented in the Bead&Button article "Collecting Leaves" in December 2007 (I love these and would use them for my project but I want something just a little bigger)

In addition,  I have created a large right-angle weave leaf pattern. (It's not perfected yet,  but it's on its way).  I am particularly interested in any leaves using square stitch.  Does anyone know a leaf or two?  Thanks!

    Hi DragonBeads,

You can use the Russian Leaves pattern, just add more beads at the end of the row when you are starting out and make it the size you want. The magazine project is starting out with 7 beads, but you can make it  9, 11, 15  or whatever, as long as it is an odd number.   Then keep adding the sides of the leaves until you feel it's the size you want. I just started playing with making these leaves and was experimenting and it's all a matter of adding until you get to the size you want. I find they are very easy to make and adjust to what you want. Hope this helps.

Thanks for showing an interest!  I actually got distracted and never made the piece,  but I still have the stuff to do it and I will get right on it!  I actually bought a book that was advertised in Bead&Button---the Beader's Floral (available from Stitch 'n' Craft)---and it has exactly the leaves I was looking for in it.  However,  I think what I am going to do is mix techniques and have a bunch of different leaves in different sizes.  I love the Victorian leaves,  I'll definitely use those.  The leaves will actually be most of the piece,  since I only have a few of the Swarovski flowers.  I'm thinking a bracelet---a vine of leaves and flowers around my wrist would be really neat.  I promise to post the finished product when it's done!
