    HELP WITH PRIVATE MESSAGE!!!!

Someone sent me a private message but I don't know how to reply.  The message says "do not reply to

this e-mail it will go to an unmonitored account" .

I need to send a new message.  What I have to do to get that person e-mail address?

    Hi Somar,

All you have to do is click on the username of the person who sent you the message (here on Bead and Button) and their profile page will open up. Scroll to the bottom of the profile page, and you'll see "Send email" and Send Private Message". Click on one of the two options and a little box will pop up where you can write your message. When you're done writing, press send and it'll go! The only nasty thing about this system is that the server doesn't tell you that the message was sent, nor does it save a copy of your message anywhere. For peace of mind its a good idea to ask the person to reply just to confirm they received the mail/message. You can send yourself a test message and a test email the same way, to make sure it works. To see your private message, click on Inbox under My Profile on the right hand tool bar above all those godforsaken ads. The email should arrive as email and not here.

I recently replied to an email sent to me by another member the same way...but I have no idea whether or not she received it. Didja receive it Rhonda? LOL!

    Nope, I sure didn't!

I agree that the B&B mail system leaves a lot to be desired. I've sent private messages to 3 or 4 people over the past couple of months, and the copies of my messages are still showing up in the "Inbox" (one of the things you can click under My Profile), but I've never gotten a reply to any of them. For all we know, these are going into the Great Void, also known as Cyber-space.

Please try again, and I'll check to make sure I'm set up to receive messages. Rhonda

Edited to add, I'm set up to receive e-mails, but was before (this setting is under one of the tabs under My Profile). I added rich text and clicked save again, just in case that makes a difference.

    Re: HELP WITH PRIVATE MESSAGE!!!!

Seems like there are 2 ways to send PM's here in this forum. It's not obvious how to use either one of them.

One sends a message to the members external e-mail address. That's the do not reply to type with the full message in it. I thought that type had instructions on how to reply.

The other method goes to the forums private inbox. You reply to that just like the regular forum threads and the forum keeps both sides of the conversation in threaded format. The inbox method seems best because you can tell it is actually sent and I think it shows if it has been opened by the person you address it to.  You get to either format with the same method. Click on the members name at the top of a post or click on the contact button below a post. You should be presented with several choice.

     Send <membername> a private message
    or
    Send <membername> an e-mail
The private message is the one that goes to their inbox inside the forum. I think it also sends an external e-mail to your e-mail account as a notification.
The e-mail sends an e-mail to to you.

If yo get the e-mail type and want to reply with the inbox type just login to the forum, search for the member in the members tab and click on the contact button when the search pulls up the user.
