    Beaded Beads with brick stitch

    Hi;

    I hope that I am not making a mistake by posting my question in this forum. I'm new here. I'm posting beacuse I have used the search engine but cannot find an article which I really believe was in B&B. It was about making beaded beads. I think they were made with brick stitch. The closest I could find was "Feb 2004: A New Twist on Beaded Beads" by Lisa Olsen Tune and that's not the article I am looking for.

     I made some of these beads several years ago (I believe it was before December of 2004 but cannot remember how much farther back it was). It was fun! I seem to remember that the author had started making one bead a day for a year. Does this ring any bells? I have most all the issues of B&B all the way back to the 1990's and it is getting hard to figure out how to keep track of favorite projects. Think I'm going to start scanning the first page of favorite projects into a file so I don't run into this problem in the future. In the meantime, am I striking any chords here?

    Thanks for your help.

    Jennifer

    I was wrong. It's not the article about beading a bead a day. I have spent all evening going through the index of B&B and "that other beading magazine and I found the bead a day article. Now I'm even more confused about what I am actually looking for. I guess I could go find the beads I made from the article I am searching for and see if I can reconstruct it

    I'd still love suggestions....

    Thanks

    Jennifer

    Hi Jennifer

    I wonder if the project you are trying to recall is one from "The Art & Elegance of Beadweaving" by Carol Wilcox Wells; it is on pg. 47, and entitled "Bellissimo Beads".  These beaded beads were designed by Marcia DeCoster and the story is that she created a different bead each day while on a vacation in Italy.  They were done in RAW not brick stitch....nevertheless, that is what came to mind when I read your post.

    If you come up with a good way to keep track of favourite projects and/or those you'd like to do when you have more time, please share it with the rest of us.  Meanwhile, happy beading.

    Barb;

    Thank you so much! I went straight to my bookcase and turned to page 47and that is exactly the bead article that I was thinking of. Here I've been searching B&B magazine indexes and B&B online and, here's the real head-shaker, I had pulled The Art & Elegance of Beadweaving out. I looked at the beads on pages 16-44 thinking that they were not the ones I was looking for. On page 45, there is a boot and a pair of socks in RAW and I stopped looking. I thought I'd seen all the beads. Turning only one more page would have led me to them!

    I very much appreciate your help with this. It was driving me crazy. And yes, if I come up with a solution to a way to keep track, I will certainly post it. Right now I can only think that I'll scan the first page of my favorites and keep them in a file on the computer. I will also scan the first page of projects I love in books too!

     Take Care

    Jennifer

    Glad I could help, Jennifer.  I guess we all know how frustrating it is when you just know what you're thinking of is out there somewhere, but you can't lay your hands on it.

    Please let us see what you come up with!

    Take care,

    Barb
