Making rose petal beads

Wild rose designed by Nancy Zellers

I have a lot of shade in my yard, so all of my flowers are late bloomers. Right about now, my rose bush is starting to look a little sad. Having had such a short time to properly enjoy them (it’s rained a lot here this summer), I landed upon a great way to preserve them: I’ll make them into beads. Of course, I’ve heard of making roses out of beads before, but making beads out of roses is new to me. Apparently, it’s easy as pie. You can make beads out of other types of flowers, too.

Have you ever made beads out of something one might not normally consider beading material?
