Beader is all thumbs when it comes to knitting

Besides organizing all of our submissions, being the general go-to person, and helping us get through the day, Lora Groszkiewicz, our Editorial Assistant, took time out of her busy schedule the other day to teach me the basics of knitting. It has been such a long time since I felt like I was all thumbs! I've always heard that knitting is relaxing, but I guess, as with all new hobbies, it will take some time to get the knack of stitching with even tension and making uniform stitches. Right now, with all my mistakes, I feel as if I have discovered free-form knitting. But I hope to improve my skills and eventually learn to use the tiny toothpick-sized knitting needles and, of course, add beads! I think I would like to give the Shimmery knit necklace by Ea Eden a try.

Have you learned a new technique lately? Do you find yourself incorporating beads into your other hobbies? If so, I'd love to hear about it. It seems like whatever I pick up, I am always envisioning how I can add some sparkle to it with beads. Even my carpeting looks better with a spattering of sparkling crystals!
