This afternoon, as I was working on a pretty little seed bead and crystal right-angle weave bracelet for December's issue, Lindsay Haedt, the Editorial Associate for
BeadStyle Magazine, dropped by my office. I paused mid-stitch, ready to see what quick question or other thing she needed of me. Instead she handed me one of the hot-off-the-presses advance copies of
Beading with Gemstones.
Needless to say, that last stitch didn't make it. I immediately dropped my beading then and there to pore over the issue. And let me tell you, it's gorgeous!
If you weren't aware, Beading with Gemstones is a Special Issue presented by BeadStyle. It was a collaboration – with over 60 new projects designed by the editors of their magazine and ours, plus a few outside contributors.
Designing as well as writing up all those articles was a fun challenge for us, especially since the deadlines were on top of our regular magazine duties. But everyone had such enthusiasm about it, which I'm sure you'll see in those pages. Since stones are my absolute favorite thing to design with, for me it was most certainly a "labor of love."
It's due out in August, and I hope that you guys love it as much as we loved designing it for you. Now if you'll excuse me, I think I'm going to go flip through it again.
