Hello,

I'm Mieke from the Netherlands and I'm working with beads for a while now. But I'm also interested in working with wire. Some time ago I have seen a bead made of wire in the shape of a knot ( I can't remember where I have seen it) and it was made of 3 ore 4 strings of wire next to eachother. Can you please tell me if there is a tutorial for it??

yeah, I know of it...it's, actually, really easy to make. I'll try to find it.

(P.S. - basically, just wind some wire 'round about 4-5 times///do this to make 3-5 different ones...then just intertwine them, one by one, as if you'd do with chainmaille. then, spread the "wings" and it'll end up looking like a "ball." ) ok, I know, sounds wierd...I'll find the tut...

It's called a "Danish Knot" - I can't remember how/when I learned it... it was years ago. But I just completed a project using Danish Knots, which I will be teaching in the fall... it was strange to see your post!!

Elly got it right - basically, you make 3 coils, each one has 4 wraps. Then you thread 2 of the coils together (easy to do). Threading the 3rd coil into the first 2 is a little difficult - it can be pretty tight. I suggest that you play with copper, and use a thin 20g coil wrapped on a larger mandrel just to get the hang of it. Then open the wires just a little bit along the outside - they should remain close on the inside of the knot.
