To those of us interested in 15/0 seed beads. If we want to be able to purchase Czech charlottes in smaller sizes, we need to find a way to keep them in circulation. It seems, maybe I am wrong, with a newsgroup membership our size, we can make this happens. I just got this email from a major Czech bead distributor:

"Are you referring to charlottes or round seed beads??? If charlottes, our delivery timei s a year. In our case, we only have enough space and budget to pre-order one size 13/0 or 15/0 and we chose 13/0.

For me to even attempt to rush something for you I would need for and order from you for 5 kilo. These beads are around $144 per kilo today. The dollar is weak in Europe and the price is escalating.

Basically, on a political bead point, in the past 13/0 was only sold to, about 2 importers. A lot of people complained so th ey made 15/0 available to others. Then as time went by 13/0 became available to others so many of those importers, like me, dropped 15/0. Also, there is only so much capacity for charlotte "cutting " in Czech seed beads. The bigger size is easier to make. We will get more 13/0 at end of summer or fall. 15/0 has become a budget issue to even start to carry again."

For those of you who do antique and/or museum quality beadwork or just need the 15/0 sizes please feel free to contact me to help preserve availability of these smaller sized Czech seed beads in this country.

Perhaps I should edit his reply. He is the only distributor I know of in NYC who sells these small size beads.

This is so sad.

Here I thought I was doing a good deed for folks looking for this size bead. Let's face it, for those of us who produce museum quality beadwork, Czech bead availability in these tiny sizes are paramount. Especially, since they are not being carried in this country in 15/0 sizes right now and maybe not ever again. Evidently, some of the writers on this topic are not aware of the urgency to find and purchase these beads before they are not available anywhere.

I am sorry my post was misread and misunderstood. The person who wrote in all caps is one of the major importers of Czech beads in the country.

I feel that I have been spammed by the replies on this subject, just because the bead supplier wrote in all caps. When he answered me I laughed b/c it seemed evident he does not use the computer much for writing letters. It also seems those replying to my innocent splash of emails about this Czech seed bead availability, probably don't use those sizes or they would not have been so rude in responding to my happy report that small Czech beads are available from this supplier who happens to be http://www.yorkbeads.com

Actually, I love size 15s (and smaller), but I haven't had trouble finding these smaller beads.... There's ebaY & google, and that's been all I've ever needed!
I guess to me it was just the fact you wrote the same message as many times as you did.... and the fact no one seemed interested, but yet you kept going. It just seemed a bit overdone to me, that's all.

I and other folk use this size almost exclusively are posting to this forum b/c they are not available anywhere. I beseech you to find czech 15/0 brown iris seed beads and I will purchase them for you. I am not the only person who has posted to this forum for these exact beads. I don't use miyuki and toho, b/c I need the irregularity of czech beads for my work. I also need the iris seed beads which are not being made any longer, from what I have read and heard. I don't think you understand what it is like to have your favorite beads disappear.

I just wrote to newyorkbeads.com and suggested to them that it is interesting they don't carry them right now because each time they post the brown iris in that size it sells out.
I wonder, when you have ordered this particular czech bead color in that size? I ask this because if you never have tried to find them in recent months, you have no idea the hours i have spent trying to find them, and again, i refer you to another posting on the web just last week for same beads and she wrote she has searched all over the world for them.

not galvanized and not metallic because both rub off so are not appropriate for museum quality beadwork,

I wrote the message to only Four topic groups (out of the very, very many we have on this website) last week. The time you have spent spamming my sincere search for beads that can't be found could have been better spent beading.

Per your suggestion to use ebay---I use ebay all the time. And I sure hope you learn to simply not read postings that do not interest you, like the rest of us do. It is amazing that you would actually take time to find the number of groups I posted to when it is obvious you have no interest in the subject and are not aware of the scarcity of these precious beads. Move on and grow up, please, hon.

So, got any retail vendors you'd care to recommend for Czech 15s and smaller?

I have been searching for them on eBay pretty regularly, and the only 15's I ever come up with look like somebody's leftovers, no hanks.

Other than that, I have bought my 15 true cuts from Beyond Beadery, but they're on the road most of the summer.
