That depends. If Bead&Button accepts the project, then no. If they don't want it and think it could work for Art Jewelry, then yes. I think the best thing you could do would be to include a note in your proposal asking Bead&Button to give it to us for consideration if they don't think it will work for their magazine.

Or, you could send Bead&Button one thing and Art Jewelry something else.

This is exactly what I was thinking when Mermaid told me she was glad ArtJewelry turned down my Porcelain & Art Clay Pendants. I look at the WHOLE magazine for inspiration. It's OK to want to see more of the materials you work with but all anyone has to say is...Dear Editor...Can we see more real jeweler's bench work projects?

The original post is so self-centered, it's ridiculous. The magazine is called Art Jewelry, not Linda Wright's Mag of Bench Projects.

I do believe that the publishers of any magazine would not be running articles that are not popular, that would be rather bad business maganement in my humble opinion.
The making and wearing of jewellery is a very personal thing, and as such should embrace all mediums and process equally. To basically insult members here by saying that what they make is anything less than it is, creative, inovative, artistic and all too often hard work is basically wrong.

I have learnt so much from visting this forum and being in the Uk where there are no mags it is a God send. If the people limited themselves as much as the original poster appears to do it would be a dull and lack-luster place to visit. Instead we have a community that is open, sharing and encouraging etc etc etc.

To rate the mediums such are Fimo and PMC as "secondclass" is rather narrow-minded. The community here is open to new ideas and welcomes everyone who contirbutes, I can only hope that the person who wrote the original post stays and benefits from the wealth of knowledge and creativity that exsists here.

I do not wish to appear as if I am pointing a finger at anyone, instead I wish to encourage all of us to keep doing what we are doing, because we all do it so well.

I don't take offense at the comments made by the original poster. I have heard it before, but I DISAGREE totally. Inferior products? What is inferior? A piece of burled wood drilled and buffed to a shine incorporated in a necklace is just a piece of wood when you come down to it.Is it worth 10 cents or a hundred bucks. Thats in the eye of the beholder. One mans crumb is another mans cake. I use acrylic beads combined with turquise, quartz and jasper and agates IF I choose to.Thats because I am a designer and not a slave to preconcieved ideas as what ART is. I would pay DEARLY for a well made piece of copper jewelry with ONE stone thats beautiful over tons of sterling silver components, that simply BECAUSE they are sterling silver they are to be of higher value. I see some simple PMC pieces I would MUCH rather have than a few sterling findings tossed on a wire bracelet ( sterling) with no color coordination, boring design and a few Swarovskis tossed in for Bling. There are beautiful pieces that ARE costumey and SHOULD be costumey. They arent meant to last for 100 years but to be worn to a Halloween party that year. My own opinion is that polymer clay is FABULOUS. It is my bedrock of components. A person who can make the BEADS they use often exhibits far more artistry than one who buys someone elses and slaps them on a buna cord.I am of Native American descent and I have seen pottery from AComa that has 1 buck worth of CLAY and sell for 300 bucks.Its the design and the ARTIST behind it that commands the price. If you want to see junk, see the designs some celebrities come up with that sell for HUGE money. The VALUE of a PERFECT piece is the PURPOSE for which it is designed. Period. If it is designed to lat a hundred years..so be it..If it is designed to make a person laugh and smile ( like I do with Fimo faces) so be it. The cash value is always what a person is willing to PAY for it.
AGain, it is allabout artistry and design and how you put pieces together. PMC, polymer and even cheap beads arent the stepchild of GREAT jewelry. They are legitimate uses of a compnent that serves the purpose for which it is intended. After all ist jewelry not brain surgery. I feel the poster is just a tad ignorant of what is important in jewelry design and its a common mistake.
