    New pendant experimenting with paints!

I have always loved using my powders for color but one drawback is you cannot sand after they are applied ( well at least I can't) so I was looking for other color options..tried oils...yeck..made a mess..one thing I am not good at is mixing colors...was trying for purple with red and blue and ended up with a toxic poop color....so I tried acrylics...there are soooo many colors to choose from and if I get a ding or "bubble" I can sand it down and reapply the paint...I love this! This pendant was done with a brush so there are brush marks...I purchased a package of those little makeup sponges and what a difference! Two creations just came out of the oven and will post when they are ready...Here's my fave DF with "cool" colors: It also has a Triple thick finish. AGAIN this is a crappy photo...the DF is not as dark as it appears here...just a bit darker than the brass washer bail.

Beautiful job, Fenian. I love your color choice.

Very nice, I like the idea of the washer type bail. It gave me an inspiration for other things we could embed in the clay for bails, such as a bead with a larger hole, a spacer bead, etc. Was the dragon fly impression done with a rubber stamp? Surely not a petrified dragon fly. I know, us polymer clay folks will try anything to get the effect we need! Jeanie

Thanks Helen and Jeanie. I used a charm for the DF....I have a whole bunch of inexpensive ones ( wouldn't make sense to get ss or gf), I do use some stamps althoughI like the charms better. I am going to do this pendant over with the little sponge brushes I mentioned...no brush marks! And as I have been trying to do beads similar to Louise Cozzi Fischer...I am having difficulty...so back to the charms![:D] I do want to add that I did use powder with the DF (another addiction of mine!)

Awesome, Fenian! Acrylics...do you just paint 'em on? Do you bake after painting? I love how the DF is mica and the base is more muted. Good job!!!

There's something to be said for brush marks, often used to authenticate fine art by the masters...........I'm glad you've found some paint that agrees with you! Maybe one of our challenges should be to do skinner blends that replicate your sky........

Thanks Linelle...I painted before baking but you can also paint after baking as well...this is one of the things I love about the paint...Jilla I agree about the brush marks...that exact thought crossed my mind but again I am not one of the "masters" and I am not sure that most customers would appreciate brush marks[:D] Ahhh skinner blends..another "challenge " for me...I can do simple ones but I think I will stick with the easy way, meaning the paints, for now.
