Finger problems lead to beading problems.

    Hey everyone!
lately when I have been beading, i've been getting a lot of pain in my finger that holds the needle, am I supposed to be holding the needle or my finger in a certain way?

It sounds as if your finger is trying to tell you that you are overdoing it & you need to take a break & perhaps give the finger a little ice and perhaps some aspirin or other anti-inflammatory medicine!

It is not unusual to experience aches and pains, even if you are holding a needle correctly, when you are using certain muscles more than you used to do. In addition to giving your aching finger some rest and special care, if one of those fingers that holds the needle is your thumb, and it is in pain, you might try some "hand-eze" gloves or something similar ~ it's a fingerless glove ~ sort of "support hose" for your hand, that keeps your hand warm and less likely to experience pain. Mine work great!

    Good luck!

Thanks! I'll try that right away..
As for the over beading I may not be able to control the urge to bead. [:)]

    Hi!

I sometimes have problems with my hands too. Melanie's advice is very good, I would also take frequent breaks and take stretch your fingers out and wiggle them Wallace and Gromit style (cracking toast Gromit) every 15 minutes or so, to loosen your fingers up.[:)]

If you have any kind of pins and needles, or numbness when you bead and it persists after you stop beading for the day, it may be a sign of something more serious like carpal tunnel, or tendon problems and you should speak to your doctor, so he can help you, so you can continue to enjoy your beading and jewellery making.

    Love, Jan
