    Bead Crochet

I too have a lot of trouble figuring out which type of thread and crochet hook to use with various bead sizes. I am currently trying to make a crochet rope using size 11 metal seed beads combined with size 4.5 round crystal and size 4 bicone crystal. I have tried lots of combinations and have not been very sucessful.

Also, I can't wait to try a ladder stitch to start the crochet, because that too gives me trouble. I would be grateful for anyone's suggestions. Thanks

    RE: Bead Crochet

I have only used size 28, and 30. I am new at crochet with wire and beads, but I find the smaller the wire the easier to get more even stiches. Now, I have never made a rope, only multiple strands put together. Good luck, Patti

    I came back, as I didn't tell you the hook sizes I have used. H/8-5.00MM _I 9/-5.50MM

BOY!! is my face red!! I just reviewed your post, and I see that you were referring to chrochet with thread not wire!! I can't help you there, but hopefully someone with more knowledge than myself will help you out. Patti [:I]

the size 4 and 4.5 crystals may be too big with the size 11 bead. Are you doing a spiral or are you using a different bead crochet pattern?

Thank all of you for your emails back.... Actually I am using a pattern out of Bead and Button (can't remember month). I made the one that had instructions(silver and tourquiose)(not a spiral). After struggling to start it, it turned out really cool. Would you believe.... just like the picture! Gosh was I amazed! There was a picture of another one right in the same article (as an alternative) but using seed beads and 4.0 and 4.5 crystals (silver, red and green). Unforturnatley, no instructions. Being so new at bead crochet, I haven't mastered the art of knowing what to thread and hook to use. Alas, we will keep playing.

    Thanks again Patti and Beadingbuddy

Hi, Deb! (I hope that's your name). I've bookmarked SO many things about crochet and beaded-crochet...perhaps, these will help you. (I suggest you bookmark them, before the forum is gone...).

First, you should get the basics of crochet…this is a GREAT visual and audio tut on crochet stitches of EVERY KIND!

Oh, I did nexstitch twice, but...ya know what? I think it's the most important, 'cause you learn the basics--and, once you learn THOSE, heck! you can incorporate beads in a "stitch!" (pun not REALLY intended, but, seems to fit, eh? hehehee!!! )...[:o)]

Again, hope this helps...it's really fun. Just takes alot of patience and time alone...I hope to see your offerings in the future forum, Deb! [:)]

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can.

Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.
