    Antiquing with LOS - tutorials

Quite a while ago I have seen several tutorials (here and links to - ) about how to antique silver with Liver Of Sulver. Now I need them and - you guessed it - I can't find them anymore, I've done searches on LOS and Liver Of Sulver, not 1 result.

Can anyone direct me pulleeze? Thanks a million in advance!

    Here's mine:

There are also links within that article on general tips on oxidizing, as well as using eggs and your oven.

    Good luck!!!

Hi, Milli...First of all, when you get a link in the future? It's a good idea to Bookmark that link, then you'll never lose it, eh? Sometimes, I also copy the whole tut to a Word .doc and label it, accordingly...'course, lots o' tuts are in PDF format, so, they're easy to find...ALSO, never underestimate the power of GOOGLE, Milli...you can just type in "oxidizing jewelry" and you'll come up with a plethura of info!

Here's a free tut from Eni Oken: http://www.enioken.com/jewelry/oxidize.html

This is a great "how-to" site for alot of things: http://www.cooltools.us/Video-Clips-s/126.htm and...This is a video, specifically, for oxidizing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kL_DT0bliMU (This is the 1st part of a 2-part video).

Good luck and do an Advance search on this forum, too, to learn more...[:)]

Stacie Florer had a great tute on LOS but had to take it off her site due to not so nice comments. You can check my blog, I do the "egg" method and regular Liver of Sulfur. It's really quite easy. Dissolve a pea sized piece of LOS (got mine from Monsterslayer, small jar under $3) in hot tap water ina glass jar. After it dissolves start dipping your metal piece until you reach the desired dark color, usually black or blue-black. I then just add more water, pour some out until all is gone from the jar. Make sure to rinse your pieces well. Then take 0000 (very fine) steel wool and remove the oxidation off the high spots to where you are satisfied. I tumble the pieces to polish them. I show pics of copper straight the roll, oxidized copper, and the finished piece. The reason I have written all this is that I did the regular search thing with no results, and I think Stacie also removed the link from the forum here.
