    Rotary tumbler question

Hi! I just ordered a Lortone 3A tumbler and I' m very excited. Where can one find stainless steel shot? I've heard gun shops but all the ones I've called in Conn. and Rhode Island have n idea what I'm talking about. Also, how polished does a piece need to be before putting in the tumbler? should I sandpaper the scratches, dremel the imperfections, etc? Thanks!

    RE: Rotary tumbler question

The tumbler is the last step and gives a polish, but it doesn't fix scratches or imperfections.

I bought my stainless steel shot from conniefox.com (she is local to me), but you buy it from most jewelry supply places - rio, thunderbird, etc...or, you can see if there is a lapidary supply near you they often have many of the same tools that jewelry people use including, tumblers, shot, burnishing solutions, etc...

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can.

Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

    Hi,

That's funny! I called Gun shops in Conn too lookin for tumblers and Shot. I even went to one place with my 3 year old son and they looked at me like I was a martian or something. I could not find any either. I am going to have to order it on the internet. I have not started searching for it yet though.

    RE: Rotary tumbler question

    Hi!

I bought both my Lortone 3A and 2 lbs of stainless steel shot from Santa Fe:

    www.sfjssantafe.com

Kingsley North sell spare drive belts and other spare parts for the Lortone 3A and you may also find the shot there and you may want to take a note of their website for the future, I run mine for about 4 hours every week and I replace the drive belt once a year on average:

    www.kingsleynorth.com

    Hope this helps,

    Love, Jan
