    Hi!

It won't be entirely lost, its just that we will have to type it out every time for a bit instead of being able to refer to previous answers...[V][banghead][X-)][|(][sigh]

But will it really be retyped? The amount of information is staggering and I fear that those that gave so generously will not be so inclined to give so much of their time again.[:(] I wouldn't blame them at all.

Hi!

Well not word for word, but those that are generous with their answers to start with are not usually the type to deny information later...what you will lose altogether is the answers of artists that have given up making jewellery for whatever reason, or have passed away which will be really sad.

I just read the post about being able to sign in to all 3 forums and being able to use your existing password, and being able to access the previous archives, that will make it easier and I do agree with being able to report spam and abuse on the new site that is something that is harder to do at the moment than it is on other forums.

Love, Jan

I have a trick for choosing and remembering. I was getting all confounded having a different password for every registered site. And, there are some passwords--like for accounts--I don't feel it is safe to write down. As long as I don't change the password for a given site more than a couple of times, I can manage. When the changes go in, I may choose a different name--but use the same password.

I find this quite aggravating ...on top of having to learn the new forum ...about.com did this a few years ago and all the senior knowledge holders left for the most part. so the forum is not as supportive as it had been

Valid point. That is dissappointing. I hope the community stays together.

Say, we can register for all three of the new forums, right. We're not limited to picking just one?

Sorry for the confusion. The subscriber-only content will not affect your forum access in any way. All registered users will have full access to the forum.

The subscriber-only content will only be on the Web sites themselves. On the BeadStyle site, for example, we will have an extra project available for our subscribers. Again, this does not affect your access to the forums.

I hope this clears things up.

I guess my main concern is this:

when I log on to the forum, I do it through BeadStyle....mainly because that is the only magazine I had exposed myself to when I got involved in this forum. HOWEVER, when I have accessed the forum through the Bead & Button pages or Art Jewelry, it didn't really matter....all of the threads and message boards were the same (same sub-boards, same posters, same threads), no matter which magazine you used as your "portal" to the boards.

Will that remain the same or will there now be 3 entirely separate boards??

Well, I'll also extend an invitation to Jewelery Artists. We have a good time, and love to have new people visit. I also have been introduced to all kinds of new things by the very talented people we have.

I tried to register 3 times tonight. I keep getting the message "spambot registration attempt". WUWT? Do I need to turn off my popup blocker or something?

I'm interested in your post about "abuse" (I'm assuming harrassment?) on the new site??? I wonder if this, also, includes off-line schtuff? [?] [?] [?]

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can.

Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

    RE: RE: Important Notice

    Dear Elly,

    Hi!

I'm talking mainly about spam, the about.com and delphi forums allow you to report spam far more easily than here where I have to e-mail Lindsay about and maybe a few days later I'll get a reply, she has a lot to do with the magazine. There also needs to be someone there at weekends, about.com forums usually have a moderator and maybe 2 or 3 part time or voluntary moderators, so does wikipedia, allowing any flame wars or spamming frenzies to be nipped in the bud more easily.

It would also be a good thing to be able to report abuse of forum members, it's one thing to give someone a little constructive criticism if they ask for it, it's not ok to tear them off a strip, or to send nastygrams via e-mail...I'm still a bit [|)] I hope I make some sense...

    Love, Jan

Nothin' wrong with a "level playing field" is there? I learn as much from beginners sometimes as from old timers.

And, there are many regulars here who post a lot of *quantity* (like, we're talking several posts A DAY) -- but I don't personally regard their input as necessarily more valuable than those who post selectively and occasionally -- and with substance.

Anyway, the so-called "seniority" is probably mostly just a matter of perception anyway.

    Just a thought...

YOu make a good point. I know there are several users who have posted in the THOUSANDS but have only been here for a few months. That's like 10 posts a day, and I dont find any of them helpful. I thought I was a heavy poster at about 1000 over a years time period. I wonder if other things will be the same...such as ....being able to view a members profile and see what posts have been started by them recently. I know I have read some really informative and educational posts........checked the posters profile, only to find MORE educational posts by them.

I think once it is up and running...everything will be okay...perhaps a few glitches here and there but I think the moderators are great here and pretty much are on top of things.

I'm with fenian on this issue. I don't think the changes will affect us all that much. A positive community tends to remain intact despite format changes.
