    make a bead clasp?

I looked around in the forums and found old threads on how to make a bead/button clasp, but if I remember correctly, it required peyote stitch. I'm working on tubular crochet and don't know other stiches, at least not yet.

Do I just use the loose starting and ending thread to attach a big bead to one end and make a seed bead loop on the other? What's the best way to sew on the big bead so the thread and knot doesn't show? What is the best bead shape to use if the clasp is to be in the back? What about if the piece is to be worn more like a lariat?

    Thanks everyone

Hi, Andi! Here's just one of the tuts that I've saved over the last few months (you can Google "free bracelet patterns" for many others). This includes many tuts available from Beading With Ruby...http://www.rubysbeadwork.com/Thumbnails.html

The first one, "Zig Zag Choker," in particular, has links that show you how to finish off the piece with a beaded ball and loop closure...VERY informative, eh? I'm sure you can adapt this to most any pattern, too. have fun!

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can.

Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

I'm sure when I sit down and actually try to figure it out, the instructions from that website will help a lot. The pictures made me want to hurry up and learn other stitch techniques:-)

Hi, again, Andi! You could even make your own "S"-shaped clasp outta SS or other metal, if ya want...attach the closed jumpring with many loops of thread to secure. (I just posted some home-made S-shaped clasps in Show your Work section--really easy!!! Just shaped them by hand...) check it out! [:)]
