HAS anyone every checked out FINGER CUFFS?
Evening! I just found this offering on "Flickr," which is an offspring of Yahoo...Just wondered what everyone's thoughts were about it?

How is it worn? Is it pretty much the same as a ring? If it is, the felt wouldn't be very durable. I wish they had shown it worn on a hand.

Sticky backed felt is attached to the sticky paper, I'm guessing that would help it maintain shape a little longer.
But, felt? Not a jewelry material, if you ask me.

Yes, those were my thoughts, too....I think the beads are SO beautiful, though!!! Would make a lovely bracelet, eh? And, I thought that it was a great "display" for the beads, themselves, but...how comfortable--in the longrun--would it be to wear. I think the "sticky back and the edges would be irritating to the next finger...Hey, it's new and different, though. Wouldn't be a bad idea for a WRIST cuff, I'm thinkin'??? [:)]

There is a pic of the cuff on a finger.
Fashion and tastes vary. I couldn't wear it because it would always be getting in my way. I consider the standard finger ring to be mostly an inconvenience.
I suppose the creative can incorporate any material they wish in their creations.

Yes the beads are beautiful but that "stuff" ruins it IMO. I looked at the "jewelry pool" that designer belongs to and there are quite a few creations using that fuzz....I really do not care for it...there's a couple of necklaces...looks so out of place and one bracelet...leave it for the belly buttons ..yuck! The only thing I will use in my designs is ribbon and only quality stuff like raw edge hand dyed silk or some velvet for backing..

I know, Gail...looks like it'd be as comfy as wearing pure fiberglass, eh? (as used in household insulation). hmmmm...didn't realize this, when I first looked at it.

Hello
Im the person that made the Finger Cuff. Thanks for the feedback, someone on Flickr kindly pointed out the discussion.
Here's the ring on my hand:

Its actually quite comfortable to wear. The least durable part of it seems to be the rubber so far, and only because I kept tweaking the wire around it to suit the shape that I wanted. Easy to replace, however, so its not a problem.
The felt is from http://www.kuninfelt.com
I have two layers, back to back, so all you feel is the felt itself. In between, a small strip of Darice crossstitch plastic, which is lightweight and flexible. I added that in to give it strength. Punch two holes in either end, thread through a piece of beading rubber (the type you'd use on necklaces) and tie underneath. Once its on the finger, the gap neatly disappears. Im going to try doing it another way so that its an enclose circle without triple layering.
From there, I take a piece of wire, loop one end around the rubber and close, thread on the glass beads, then shape to go diagonally across the top and then shape and loop around the other piece of rubber. Voila, one finger cuff.

Oh, Im not offended at all! If we all liked the same thing, we wouldn't end up with the wonderful variety of wearable items that we can see all around us.
I like experimenting, and this finger cuff was just an experiment that worked out pretty well. What Im actually using the felt/plastic combo for is a hair accessory. Something that is a C shape with a beaded stick (perhaps a chopstick) to hold it in place. The first experiment failed, so I made the ring from the scraps of felt.

Hi!
I like the Japanese Obi look that this has, and I think that the felt would work better for something like the hair decorations as you have less problems with sweat making the felt pill and look grubby. Maybe something like suede, or ultra suede/suedette or a sandwich of two layers of fabric and some pelmet Vilene or timtex - a heavy duty interfacing used for baseball cap peaks, would be softer against the skin, it is a very dramatic look, you wouldn't need any other jewellery with this.
love, Jan

I live in Toronto and it's 35 degrees out right now (celsius)... how does the finger cuff stand up to hot sticky weather?

Oh, I [#ditto] fenian's comment, whoozqueen! Yet another, open mouth, insert BOTH feet, I'm afraid. I like the idea, too, about wearing it as a hair piece!!!
Did you say you made the beads, btw? Now, THOSE are truly a standout! [:)]
