    Metamorphosis: Great Jewelry Exhibit

If you're in Pittsburgh check out metamorphosis at the Heinz History Center - it's a brilliant exhibit of jewelry - called the life cycle of a bead. Each piece has a bead beside it and then you see the magnificent finished product.

I saw it and was impressed.

More in my fav ezine - page down past some other exhibits in the City of Pittsburgh. Metamorphosis will be in St. Paul, MN next.

Ooh, cool. I need to go to the Twin Cities (Mpls, St. Paul) to visit my folks, and that would be fun to see!

Don't scroll too fast past the Chihuly exhibit...and GO if you get the chance. I saw it in Miami earlier this year and it is FABULOUS. His use of color is just amazing and inspirational.

The Chihuly is on until November. If you do visit I suggest you go at night when it's lit up. I've seen it twice and the night visit was the best by far.

Awwwww...I wish I had known this exhibit was in PGH...we were just there on vacation visiting family & friends in "Da Berg". I lived there for <mumble-mumble> years! ( too many to count, but let's say it was somewhere around 35+) [:)]

Check out Wisdom2bead's link, scroll all the way down and check out Lisa Walsh's hollow beads with seashells inside! WOW!

I can't wait to see it in MN. It will be there during the ISBG Gathering. If it's a trek for you, make it at the same time as the Gathering and go to the Bead Bazaar they put on at the Hyatt on Saturday, July 21!

I really liked those hollow glass beads with the tiny seashells inside.

Lori, as you are going to be in MN, I wanted to let you know that the exhibit at the Woodturner's museum in conjunction with the Gathering is going to definitely be worth the visit to that locale. I was there when a couple of pieces were being previewed. There's some amazing squid with glass head and eyes, gorgeous wood body, and either silver or pewter tentacles. And some wooden vessels with integrated zippers and beads as zipper pulls. The person working when I was there said some of the work was really excellent. Dulcey
