    lampwork .. wholesale?

i am looking to diversify the products on my website and want to start adding designs items with some really unique lampwork beads. (i'm also looking to add some jewelry with clay beads and several sites have been suggsted).

any of you wonderfully artistic lampworkers offer wholesale beads or perhaps know of someone who does, if you don't? i'm really looking to design some jewelry combinations not found elsewhere.

    thanks!

See www.isgb.org , the International Society of Glass Bead Makers, for links to glass bead makers who sell their goods retail and wholesale.

I offer a 10% discount on orders above $500, but I don't offer true wholesale. For many artists, this is just not doable, because we don't mass-produce beads. You might check the SRA site, though.

I would also check on www.lampworketc.com. Many lampworkers on there.

I used to do wholesale, but with our new store I've been so busy I haven't had time to make the beads my girlfriend wants me to make for her projects, let a lone anything to sell to anyone else...

I to am looking for lampworked beads to use in my designs. I went to this site and sure you can get a bargain. How about 200 beads for as little as 26.63! No thanks.
I am not going to support child labor. I'd rather spend more and support an artist for many reasons. I have to draw the line on this one. I did go to etsy and found 3 artists that do some awesome work. Check it out.

What part of the country are you in? The first thing I would do is check out www.isgb.org (the International Society of Glass Beadmakers). They have a teacher's index. Not all the people that teach are listed on there, so if you can't find anyone near you, check out www.lampworketc.com. There are so many people on there that I'm sure you can find someone near you. If neither of those work, you may want to consider some of the large bead shows that offer classes. Shows like BeadFest and Bead & Button. Another alternative is to go somewhere and take a class from a private instructor. We teach classes all the time - both regular classes and private classes. If you are anywhere close to Virginia, I'd be happy to teach you.

The last alternative, if you can't find a class, is to get a book or video and learn from there. Cindy Jenkins' book is one of the best to learn from - http://www.soleiletlune.com/webstore/product.php?productid=16408&cat=268&page=1

I highly recommend taking a class if you can, however. There are so many things you pick up on watching someone else that you just can't learn from a book.
