need help with Eni's jewelry price calculator
Hi all,
Wondering if anyone who uses Eni Oken's Jewlery Price Calculator can help me figure out how to insert a photo of my jewelry I have scanned and have in my desktop files onto her format. It says to open an image from a web browser, copy it and paste it onto the page. Can't seem to make this work. I have a Mac.
Her program is very helpful, and I'd love to have photos of my jewelry on the page for reference. I also sent her an email asking about this, but figured someone out there might have the answer, as well. By the way, I am relatively new to this forum (two weeks) and can't believe the amazing work shown, and great information you have here. Wish I'd found this a few years ago.
Thanks,
Cindy

A good question - if you get an answer, let us know. I couldn't figure out how to do either.

Hi Adrienne,
Hopefully I'll hear from Eni. It didn't make any sense to retrieve a picture from a web browser.
I'll let you know when (if) I find out. Do you have a Mac, too?

I have a pc, but still haven't figured it out. Maybe I'll play with it again tonight and try and just insert a jpeg off of my harddrive.
I'll let you know if I have any luck.

I use this program and love it!
Basically, open your jpg and right click on it - hit 'copy'
Go back to your open Excel file, right click in the empty space at the bottom, and hit 'paste.' You can resize the image once it's in the Excel file if it's too big (right click on the picture, select 'format picture.')

Hi, Sophia
I love the program, too, except for the picture part :) Unfortunately, with Mac, there is no "right click" . I tried your suggestion several times with no luck. I emailed Eni, but her website says she's going on vacation. arrrgghh.

i haven't tried eni's calculator yet, but for those of you with a mac who "can't" right click because you are on a mac, hold down the ctrl button and click..."right click" is "control click" for mac users. ;)

RE: need help with Eni's jewelry price calculator
Sunfire,
I definitely still need help with getting the picture into the calculator using my Mac. I have files on my desktop with pictures from my digital camera as well as scanned ones of my jewelry. I prefer using my scanner as I finish pieces, but I notice the format is more vertical than horizontal--so have to rotate it. However, I can't seem to get the image small enough to fit onto the calculator page and have it stay there. How'ja do it? :)

RE: need help with Eni''s jewelry price calculator
oh, shoot, i meant to check back here! i'm glad you were able to figure it out. i use easycrop to resize my photos before i put them on my website, then i just control click on the website image and "copy image", then i go over to the calculator and click on the spot for the photo, then control click and choose paste.
so, which of the "suggested" prices do you all use? do you look at the ones on the lower right, or the range of suggested retail prices a little farther up? as i am new at this, i am pricing on the low end of the suggested retail price. [:I] it's still more than what i was asking!
also, what's the deal with the wire calculator do-hickey at the top right?

RE: need help with Eni's jewelry price calculator
Sunfire,
Thanks for the photo tip. I believe the wire calculator is for pricing inches or feet when you purchase it by the ounce. (I may be wrong here, but it seemed to make sense).
As far as pricing--I use different formulas based on where it's going--pricing for a friend vs a retail store; level of difficulty in making the piece, etc. The best part of it is it gives you a much more realistic idea of how much your time is worth, overhead, etc. It does add up!

Ok, sorry, I'm back from vacation, but I see you have solved the problem... For those who don't have right click, use the options Copy and Paste. On the PC, the shortcut is CTRL+V for copy and CTRL+P for paste.
