    REPLY NOTIFICATION question

Hi, everyone! This is something that has been a bug for me since joining the forum...Only every once in a blue moon do I get an option to Recieve Notification of Topic when I reply to a post. I'd say about 98% of the time, I don't.

I've inquired quite a number of times to the forum "powers that be," without a reply...aaarrrggghhh!!! I've read the directions, which say that there are "icons" at the top of the page and levels of notification, etc. in "my specifications" (something to that effect), but, I see none of these things! " I Do have my profile setup correctly)...

I know i miss alot of replies, 'cause of this and it's a wee-bit flusteratin'!!!

Does anyone else have this problem? Or, more importantly, anyone have a solution??? Thanx so much!!!

    elly

(p.s. - case in point, even this new post doesn't have a box to check to rec'v replies! yikes!)

    RE: REPLY NOTIFICATION question

Seems like only a few sections on the forum are set to send notifications if there are replies. It's not available in all sections.

Yes, you're right, Russ. Ya know? I don't see B&B mag as bein' some kinda fly-by-night operation...they seem to have a pretty good operation going, eh? I just wonder why they can't be #1-consistent; #2-able to resolve such a simple matter, #3-Seemingly, ignore simple requests (or, even give us the respect of a reply). hmmmm....I'll deal with it; I like this forum and get alot of ideas and info from it...just a shame.

    RE: REPLY NOTIFICATION question

    Hi Elly,

I'm sorry that you've been having problems with the notification function on the forum. I'm not sure how that feature works, but I wanted to let you know that you shouldn't have to deal with it much longer. The Bead&Button, BeadStyle, and Art Jewelry websites and forums are undergoing a redesign and will be unveiled this summer. This should take care of the problems. BTW, I didn't get the notification check box with this post either, so it's not just you.

I'm sorry that you weren't notified that the problem was being looked into when you contacted us before. I checked with another moderator and she did forward your request to our online department to look into. I'm sorry that they never responded.

If I can help with any of your questions, please let me know.

    RE: REPLY NOTIFICATION question

Well, Thank You, katie!!! I so much appreciate the reply. How would I get hold of you, specifically, about any other issues? It's pretty flusteratin', when you can't do anything other than email Kalmbach, in hopes of a reply, ya know?

Wouldn't it be a great idea to do a Sticky, in order to let people know about "known" issues??? and, what--if anything--is going to be done about them? I think it'd be a really good idea to implement something like that. Thanx, again, katie!!!

    Hi Elly,

If you have any problems, you can contact me at editor@artjewelrymag.com. You're right, it would be helpful if we posted problems so that people know. Our online department is always looking for ways to resolve the problems, but some problems take longer than others. Since they are currently working on our brand new forums and websites, we might have to wait out a few of the problems, such as the notification function.
