Anyone happy with their Website Creators/website host?

I tried to create my website with "Yahoo" merchant starter, but the HTML stuff is driving me insane! I need to find a website designer/host who will do all that computer stuff for me so that I can concentrate on my jewelry!

Can anyone suggest a website designer/host that they are happy with & has reasonable prices? I contacted "www.2girlsdesign.com" because I really liked the sites that they created, but I've waited over 3 weeks to get a quote from them and to me that is not good customer service.

    Thank You,

I created my website using Adobe Golive.....and I had absolutely no experience doing a website, ever. A relative that is an ISP does my webhosting for me...(sssshhhhhh free!).

I know what you mean about the yahoo and the html stuff....I tried several online website creators, and just couldn't figure them out....with Golive, it does take awhile to figure out, and html knowledge helps, but I muddled through and learned a lot by using the program and my "Teach Yourself Golive" book.

I think there are quite a few members of this forum that do web design also....I'm sure some of them, or someone who knows who they are, will give you an answer.

Actually, I signed up with Yahoo and they have a Site Builder that is non-HTML oriented. I don't know much about using HTML for writing a site but their builder is more of a point and click thing.

Another option is having someone build it for you. May I suggest A Wild Thyme Designs http://www.awildthymewebdesign.com? Maureen helped me out a TON with my website and built my shopping cart for me. She's great to work with and has very reasonable prices.

But Yahoo Sitebuilder does work with the merchant account...I don't have the merchant one, but sitebuilder does have a menu to add shopping cart things. And it should be free for you to download on to your computer.

    Good Luck!

    Megan,
I checked out the http://www.awildthymewebdesign.com website and there was a message that said they are not accepting any new website design clients at this time.

I have designed a site using the Yahoo site builder, but it's just not as user-friendly and professional as I'd like it to be. I signed up for the Yahoo merchant account and it's just too time consuming to use, plus, you have to download a 300+ page user guide to be able to get through the initial set-up. I would just rather pay someone to do all that B.S. since I'm a beader, not a website creator.

    Thank you for your reply!!

A great FREE website and host that generates alot of traffic as well as a good website structure is Ecrater.com It is free and there set up reminds you of ebay without the fees. They also do and automatic submission to froogle and generate good static webpages.

    Hope This Helps...

I use EKM. It is a pay for site. The staff are fantastically helpful and will talk you step by step through things over the phone. the standard of professionalism is high and the consistancy of the site is excellent.
The site are templated and can either be written in html or in Plain english. You acn switch between the two very easily. Colours and styles are flexible.
What initially sold it to me is the staff, the simplicity. (you can click on the site and play with all the templates to see if it suits) and the fact that many people I know use it and rave about it!

I am working on all of this too, but still in the startup phase.

I bought the hosting package from Blue Host, and so far I am really pleased. I'm also using sitespinner and that is going well for me too. It is a wysiwyg kinda thing, and is pretty simple. I am still feeling my way through it, and have a lot of questions, but hey, I never in a million years thought that I would get as far as I have.

I have heard great things about Golive though.....

I use Blue Host as a hosting carrier as well. I am building my site now. I am using Microsoft Frontpage to manage and build my site though.
The thing to know about blue host is that once you pay the hosting fee there are additional fees once you add a shopping cart. I just called them last night and asked them what I needed to do.
They said that I would have to purchase an SSL certificate for $49.00.
Then I would have to pay and additional $150.00 or somwhere around that number to purchase a secure IP address. That is because the IP address that you purchase for your website is shared and not secured.
So just to give you a heads up if you wanted to be able to have people purchase your items online.

We use FrontPage to do all our website design. There is a program at www.nvu.com that works very much like FrontPage. It does most of the HTML coding for you. If you can copy and paste pictures and type text, it, is very easy to use.

When you're done, click on the code tab and copy and paste the code to upload to your host.

We use Yahoo as our host and have been very happy with them.

    Good Luck!

my boyfriend built my site, it's still not finished (footballs on telly) but thats more down to me not knowing what i want and taking photo's, he built it in dreamweaver, he's got his own site (www.digitalcreations.co.uk) as he's doing a few projects at the moment.

My site is hosted by 1&1 and i've not had any problems with them so far.

Hope you get your site up soon

RE: Anyone happy with their Website Creators/website host?

I have been using the same host for 12 years and would not use any other. It is www.speedhost.net. It is $200 a year and they are super responsive. One day the guy who runs the server called me to tell me one of my mailtos had an incorrect email address - That's service!

One time years ago I was away and they had a fire on one serve. Fortunately they had a back up server and had backups within 3 hours of the fire and were able to get all sites back online immediately.

Creator - I am assuming you mean software, since I really believe you are the best person to create your site in the first place. I use FrontPage (and have since the earliest versions after spending several years hand coding). I know there are problems with it, but there is great support and "better the devil you know than the devil you don't". I do a lot of code cleaning where I can.

    Good luck on your site!

I use yahoo site builder and yahoo web hosting.
    why, because it was easy.
I need to redo my site but it will be time consuming but easy to find what I want to do once I put the time in. The reason I chose this was because of the price. site builder is free and web hosting is $12 a month. I was looking at the cost

I am also building my site with Yahoo Site Builder. It has been very time consuming but so far the only real problem I'm having is the "view cart" thing, which I'm working with Pay Pal to resolve. No matter which way you go, unless you want to pay big bucks or are very html saavy, you will run into a certain amount of problems.
