    Crimping Bead Style style?

Aloha! I notice in most all of your features on stringing, the finishing touch is a bead, then the crimp and another bead at the end. I've only put my crimps at the very end of the string. Is this a Bead Style specific style, or does the bead on both sides of the crimp serve a purpose? ~alohabc [8D]

it stops the sharp edge of the crimp bead abrading and eventually cutting through the beading wire. try it , it works ![:)]

I do it like this except when I have problems fitting 0.18 Softflex back through a bead (I find my silver beads have inconsistent size holes). I like the way it looks but I'm going to have a go with the magic crimper soon.

I do it with a small matching colour seed bead at the end, but wouldn't use other beads as I feel they are too big and can spoil the look of a piece. [:)]

It really does ease the tension on the crimp, which is where a piece is most likely to break. I agree, a matching seed bead works well for me!

    Greetings, all . . .

I keep a stash of clear seed beads on hand in various sizes and use them on both sides of the crimp. A lot of times, I'll use a crimp cover, but in this photo, there isn't one. Pardon the blurry pic. I had to crop/edit/enlarge and it got fuzzy.

I am confused even after reading and studing pictures about the appropriate crimp to use on whatever stringing medium I am using? Are there different crimps for differsnt materials AND if so - which do I use when? and why can't I find this variety on suppliers list or in stores - yes I have looked in MANY places. Maybe, I'm just not getting something about differences? Anybody have a simple rule of thumb that has proven successful? The picture above and the bead discussion were helpful, thanks!!! ..... but I still need help with crimp of choice question. Looking forward to answers!~ Thanks WOWW

I use 2x2mm ss crimps with .019 Softflex for my general purpose bead stringing. I think that is pretty standard. You can also do an advanced search and set the date back a year or so and I'm sure there will be many threads on this topic. Best of luck to you.
