    Puffed Crystal Heart

    Any suggestions what to use instead of fishing line?

    is this sort of like a beaded bead? if so, I have the same question listed in another category. I hope we get some feedback ('cause I just took an order for beaded bead earrings and want to make them right!)

    Hi Debra,
    I learned these hearts @ a local bead store, paid $30 for the 3 hour class +materials (close to sixty dollars total), no pattern. However you can find two other puffed heart patterns for free here http://www.suzuranart.com/top_en.html just click on the Free Projects tab and you'll find it[tup].

    Hi. The design from suzuranart.com are kinda complicated. I've made them before & as beautiful as they are, there are easier patterns out there:

    try the crystal puffy heart by chris prussing at bead-patterns.com, it's only $9.95 & uses RAW.

    Oh booooy! I wish I knew that before wouldn't spend so much money. I don't know if it is weaved the same way I do it, but they look good enough for me! [:0]
    Gigigirl what is a RAW?

    Thanks!

    RAW = Right Angle Weave
    Chris Prussings also has a book called Right Angle Weave, but she also offers basic instructions via Bead-Patterns.com too.
    Best of luck to you & happy beading!

    As far as thread, may I suggest either SoftTouch or Fireline, for durability.

    I don't know I'll try. Although I use Soft Flex, never tried Soft Touch and never heard of Fireline[:I] I use 8lb tested fishingline.

    Will try your suggestions :)

    Soft touch is very thin yet strong plastic coated stainless steel wire cable by same company as softflex. Fireline is a braided fishing line. PowerPro is also a braided fishing line that's often used for woven beadwork.

    I just learned this technique - it is not easy! It took 72 crystals and we used fishing line. There is also a pain bead inside, just to keep it 'plumped'. It took us about a 2-hour class. Frankly, I'm not sure I could do it again, but I'm gong to try. I have the pattern - but here's the catch - it's in Japanese. I'll gladly send you a copy or fax it.

    I'd love to have the pattern. Where can I email you my address? I'm kind of new at this and I'm not quite sure how I can do this without posting my email address on the forum
